The Happy Vixen's 15th Anniversary

On Sunday June 28, the Happy Vixen Beach club would celebrate a milestone, it's fifteenth anniversary. It was June 2011 that the venue, which first started as a small extension of Club Zero Gravity, came to be. Since then, the club has undergone many changes, some of which were described in the article written for it's tenth anniversary. And with the Relay Weekend finally over and the excitement over the Second Life Birthday starting to fade, she felt it was time for a party.

This is The Happy Vixen's 15th Anniversary, 15 years out of SL's 23 years, Goddess that is a LONG time, but during that time a lot of friends have come and gone, we have all shared Joy and pain... But in my humble opinion, we've had more joy than pain. We've had many great  Master Builders help along the way from My sister Jasmine's Halloween sets and my loving friend Shion who built our current club version.  From all of our wonderful DJ's and Hosts in the past.  And Most important of all, You, our friends and Patrons.  Without you we would be just a shell.  So, Thank You, each and everyone one of you.  We will continue to go out of our way to make THV an interesting and inviting place to come, hang out, relax and explore.  with that said we have 5K on the board and DJ Maliit Spinning the tunes! Heres your Ride http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Purrfection%20Estates/135/164/21 SEE YOU HERE!

since the prize is over 2K and a special event I have opened the entry to "everyone" including staff.

Unfortunately, while I was able to meet Nydia just before the party, due to events in real life I was not able to stay for it.  She had changed over to the avatar she had been going about in at the time of the club's founding, "Goddess, I feel old."

Nydia would later send me a picture of herself nest to the statue of her current avatar, demonstrating how much has changed.

Yes, much as changed. Some of us are a little older and wiser. Others older and not as healthy. The club has certainly changed in appearance. But it's still a place to relax for the Sunweaver/Angel community and it's friends to relax to music and have a little fun. And that it will remain for quite some time to come.

Club Cutlass Goes To One Contest Board

For it's history, Club Cutlass has had two contest boards, one for men and one for women. For years, there have been fewer people entering contests on the men's board. And lately, there's often just one or two. So recently, Rita Mariner decided it was time for a change.

Sunnies ... Due to lack of males joining the contests, I have rolled both boards into ONE! The board is now BLACK and both male and females will use it. Prize will be raised to 500L.

So now, there's just one board for men and women at Cutlass where the men's board used to be. In place of the women's board is a picture. Otherwise, the contests go on as usual.

A Night of Six Winners At Cutlass

Saturday February 18 at Club Cutlass started out interesting enough. There had been a theme change to "Furries and Scalies," which suited the dragon crowd with DJ Geerkil just fine. There were the usual bad jokes and puns, along with Geerkil playing "Baby Shark" claiming it had been requested. Then eventually it was time to vote for the best in theme, with 1000L on both the male and female boards. And then the winners were announced.

[19:55] Kylee Gracemount: Good Luck All !
[19:55] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Voting for "FURRIES and SCALIES (M)" has ended.
[19:55] Now playing: Seamus Kennedy - Old McDonald had a Deformed Farm
[19:55] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Zorro Wuramunga won L$1000!
[19:55] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: Zorro Wuramunga
[19:55] Jaxs (mJaxs Resident): have no cables, but watch mostly on the enternet.
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Skylark Lefavre won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: myu Zepp won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Kylee Gracemount won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: LiskaDaLantros Resident won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Aubrytia Resident won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: Skylark Lefavre, myu Zepp, Kylee Gracemount, LiskaDaLantros Resident, Aubrytia Resident

The initial response was Zorro going "Thanks all" to his win and Kyle Gracemount saying, "Thank You for the Music, the Hosting, and the Venue." Then Snowy HunniBunni Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre), the club manager that night, noticed the number of winners, "Wow! Like Oh - Emm - Eff - Gee!  Lots of winners." She then thought about adding the names of the six contest winners on the bottom of the board, "I hope it fits." And thankfully they did, "Whew! It all fit!"

Nights with so many winners at Club Cutlass are rare, but they do happen. Two years ago in February 2021, there were two instances of seven winners (here) and (here).

Club Squeaks

By Bixyl Shuftan

There's a small but promising new club in the Sunweaver/Angel's community: Club Squeaks.

This new club came about in response to the closing of another. On Thursday July 28, Brandi Streussel announced that Clube Livewire (sometimes spelled L!vew!re) had shut down and the building taken down. The club had kept calling itself "The NEW Livewire" as it was less than a year old, having opened in Fall 2021 (probably late September), and the Cyberpunk look was done away with in Spring 2022 and a more regular look installed. In mid-July, owner Whiskey Ravenhurst (formerly Thorrin Resident) announced he was shutting down the venue as real-life demanded his full attention.

Brandi was one of the DJs at the closed club, and her response was to start a new one. It's in a small building in the middle of a globe way up in the Pacific Waters sim. The design is a somewhat simple one, with a small dance floor and DJ booth. The booth has a small mouse-shaped tip jar that squeaks when tiped and gives a cloud of cheese animation. There's a couple of rotating neon dance platforms in the air, the same kind Club Zero Gravity is noted for). There's also an overhead large hammock with cushions, in case a couple wants to hang around after the party and cuddle.

There were a few suggestions for names after Brandi announced on her Discord channel she would soon be creating her own club, such as "The Cheese Factory" and "The Mouse Trap." But Brandi named it after her DJ handle, DJ Squeaks, presumably for better recognition.

Currently Club Squeaks has events Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 11 AM SL time, with Brandi/DJ Squeaks as the sole DJ, for now. It is currently the only club in the Sunweaver/Angel area with morning hours.

Club Zero Gravity's Redesign, and Other Sunweaver Area Club News

There's been a few happenings with the clubs in the Sunweaver area. Club Zero Gravity recently got something of a makeover. From the outside, it now resembles a red sphere with a yellowish belt.

On the inside, the club's gotten something of an interior makeover from the metallic floors of a few weeks ago (the green color was for St. Patrick's), which had only seen minor changes since 2018.

To now wooden decks, and stairs allowing smoother access to a lower section of floor, better reembling 21st Century clubs. But the techy feel hasn't gone as the area one steps in will light up.

And the place continues to be "The Party Among the Stars." The club currently has only one event a week, from 4-6PM SL time on Wednesdays. But it is looking to hire DJs and hostesses.

The club is  run by Mato (Matoazma Kazyanenko) (pictured) and Ranchan Weidman.

Sunweaver Space (129, 249, 3597)

While most clubs and hangouts in the Sunweaver area try to attract the locals, this hasn't always been the case. Some time ago, someone rented some land in Sunweaver Bay and used it to place an urban block area with a portal that led to a club high above the sim. It was called "The Waste."

The Waste got a few curious visits from a few Sunweavers, but it made no effort to attract locals or join the Furry Club Alliance. It was just there, doing it's own thing with it's own crowd for many months, probably well over a year (I can't recall how long). Finally the other day, someone pointed out the city block was gone with a sign in the place saying the club was moving.

While a couple people felt this can only be good, the small amount of lag created by the club for people they never knew that was now no more, hopefully it will go on to a better future.

Rare Night: Seven Winners At Cutlass

 *

Friday March 4 was the Pirate party at Club Cutlass. When the Sunweaver community was in it's early days, Club Cutlass started out as a pirate-themed club, hence the name. While it's taken many forms over the years, the name never changed.

And this night, the hearties partied, in various pirate outfits. This included a mouse buccaneer - "I be a pie rat.".

Finally came voting time, and we were to choose the best in theme. On the Men's board, there was a tie between two guys: Zorro Wuramunga and Bixyl Shuftan (myself). But on the women's board, there was a surprise! While there are occasional three-way ties, this time it was a five-way tie! Kylee Gracemount, Mattie Carlton (Mattie Foxpaws), Liska da'Lantros (LiskaDaLantros Resident), Snowy AngelBun Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre), and Ginger (Dusk Griswold). So it was a night of seven winners!

While amazing, the night wasn't the first time a club event had so many winners. In February 2021, there was another. Still, it was a night to remember. And the following night, we found Jenni couldn't squeeze all the names on the board.

Dusk Griswold's Retirement Party

 *

On Saturday December 4, the Sunweavers decided to hold a party to celebrated a real-life milestone of one of their longtime members. Dusk Griswold, also known by her display name Ginger, was retiring from her real=life job.

Dusk "Ginger" Griswold invites you to come to her retirement party from her real life job with the United States Postal Service. Party is Dec 4th from 3pm to 5pm at Club Cutlass onboard the Airship Cutlass VI . Come dressed casual, there is no contest. The music will be of the 60's and 70's mostly. DJ Snowy AngelBun will play tunes first hour with DJ Cynthia Farshore the second hour.

As the announcement stated, the party ran just before the main event on Saturday, from 3 to 5PM SL time, with no contest. The food table got some attention.

Among those stopping by was Sabine McGettin, the former captain of the old Passionate Redheads team for the Relay for Life.

Dusk, getting ready for the next event that night, "Going Plaid." She was retiring after over thirty years in the US Postal Service. Quite a long time.

Happy Retirement, Dusk.

Beach Party at Cutlass

Saturday July 17 was the Beach Party at Club Cutlass. With DJ Cynthia playing some beach music, the dance floor ended up covered with sand.

Three from the RFL "Roos" team dropped by, one being a "Parrothead" Jimmy Buffet fan.

"Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the water."

Rhane Slade, a little bunny, showed up for the first time in a while.

A good time was had by all.

Club Cutlass is at Sunweaver Bay (114/117/757).

The Happy Vixen Turns Ten Years Old

By Bixyl Shuftan

This month, The Happy Vixen Beach Club will become ten years old. In Second Life, it's an accomplishment when a club makes it to it's first anniversary as so many close down after just a few months or even a few weeks. But the Happy Vixen has gone on year after year, enduring the highs and lows of traffic and celebrating the seasons and the accomplishments of it's staff and friends. And ten years later, it's not just still around but thriving.

In contrast to many clubs, created by ambitious personalities who think they have what it takes to make the next top club in all of Second Life, the Happy Vixen's start was more humble. In May 2010, it was decided to make Club Zero Gravity the main club of the Purrfection sim. Being a space club, it was high above the sim. About a year later, Nydia Tungsten, whom before ran the Angels Beach club in another sim before it was suddenly shut down when the region closed down, decided something for the surface was needed. In June 2011, she placed a small beachside shop, and a small beach club with a thatched roof made by Treminari Huet. Nydia didn't give it a name at first, but it soon became known as the Happy Vixen.

For months it would hold events an average of once a week, the larger "Raised Tail" beach club that was also in the sim having larger numbers. But then "Raised Tail" would shut down, never to reopen. Nydia then decided it was time to expand the Happy Vixen, builder Jasmine Dawn (Jasmine Knickers) using the design of the closed club as an inspiration, with thatched roofs and vines going down the sides. Nydia was also asked by friends of hers to make the beach next to it a nude beach. This was not for frisky behavior, but because their favorite "clothing optional" places were closing, and what was left were what were sometimes called "perv beaches," and the women wanted a place where they could enjoy full exposure without being pestered for sex. The new club was reopened in November 2011, and would start getting more attention.

At first, the club would hold only one two or three events a week in times and days not covered by the other Sunny clubs, such as on Monday. For several months at one time, it was closed to regular events. But time would change things. Cutlass would drop it's Sunday event, so the Happy Vixen filled in. Xanadu would also close and re open due to the owner's real-life, and at one point it was decided for the beach club to fill in for it until it reopened. And eventually It was decided Purfection couldn't support two clubs. Since the beach club fit the theme of the sim more, it stayed and Club Zero Gravity would close, and remain offline for a few years before reopening elsewhere. And so as it filled in when neighboring clubs closed or a talented DJ was interested in working there, the little beach club became the most active in the Sunweaver community.

Over time, the Happy Vixen would get several renovations. At one point it was taken down from Purrfection and another beach club set up in the Main Sunweaver area and called the "Happy Vixen," one with the dance area out in the open. It was best known for being the setting for a couple music videos. It would soon be moved back to Purrfection, but as a new club building that was made a little smaller, but the dance floor area also out in the open. It would get makeovers again in May and June 2016, getting a larger dance floor, a building area with a hot tub and a few games, and a small shopping "mall" area near the entrance. It would remain this way for almost three years. Then in March 2019, it got the makeover that gave it the look it has today, a larger dance floor with a side area with a movie theater and some games.

In March 2019, it would once again be modified and look much like it does today, a large open-air club with a big dance floor with a crystal center. One corner was for the dragon DJ whom played a couple events a week at the time. To the side was a hot tub with a few games placed above and nearby. Later in the year, it would be further modified to have a movie theater area with a huge selection of movies. The hot tub would be taken down, but more games would be added. There are some pictures of Nydia and her friends, and a calendar vendor. There's also a Sunbeamer kiosk there in the Relay season, and throughout the year a "Homes For Our Troops" kiosk for donations to the two charities.

Over time, there have been many, many events. The club aims for a variety of themes, seldom repeating the same one until two or three months have passed. Some of the more memorable themes have been Pony, Skunks, Sharknado, Pirates, and others. The club has seen game tournaments, Birthday parties, a number of Relay events, benefits to help neighbors in need, other charity events, memorial events, calendar auctions, taken part in club crawls, had a book publishing party, was the setting of some SL music videos, hosted a couple Luskwood tribute parties, and was the scene of some SL Newser anniversary parties. Every December, the club is the scene of the "Twisted Christmas" party. And every October in the past few years, Jasmine Dawn's made a fun Halloween build, followed by a big Halloween bash. And on a rare occasion, there may be a pie fight or some flooding.

If the club has a secret for it's longevity, it's flexibility. Nydia Tungsten runs the club along with manager Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre), with a little help from yours truly. Our friend Helios Auxifur also helps out. The club has been fortunate enough to have some fine talent over the years, such as Tantari Kim and Jasmine Dawn.

As for future plans, it's continuing to provide fun and music to our neighbors and friends, and some games and movies between parties. We may change the design of the place again soon, or maybe not. The point of a beach club is to relax, and so we'll continue to provide a place for some fun in the sun.

Currently, our schedule is Mondays 9-12PM, Tues 4-8PM, Thurs  8-10PM, Fri 4-6 and 8-10PM, and Sunday 5-9PM. Come on over and join in the fun.

The Bouncing Bunny Beach Club Gets "Waved"

Since it's appearance in November 2020, the newest of the Sunweaver clubs, the Bouncing Bunny Beach Club, has entertained people with events twice a week.

A few people did scratch their heads when they first heard about it, "do we need another club?" But just about everyone has come to like the bunny and beach-themed BBBC, or "Beeb," as it's occasionally called.

And the place is starting to see it's share of funnery. Sunday February 7 was when the club had it's "Horse and Pony" event. The party was intended for fans of pony avatars to "horse around," and others could use anthro equine avatars or perhaps be an anime ponygirl. Then Jasmine Dawn (OraSine Resident) showed up, in a seahorse avatar.

And before long came one of the hazards of a beach club, the tide came in.

And the floor started getting wet as waves brought water over.

In "My Little Pony," some of the equines have a little magic power. Could the seahorse have used a little pony magic of her own? Jasmine commented about "When a certain pain in the a** stopped in and made a royal splash. Heehee!"

"I did give fair warning I was going to wave people, at them, on them, around them ."

Eventually though, the water began to retreat.

And the seahorse decided to nap.

But it wasn't the end of the flooding as soon the "red tide" came in.

Before anyone could compare things to the "red rum" scene in "The Shinning," things began to look closer to some fruit drink commercials.

I *hope* that was lemonade.

By this time, Jasmine had changed to a noodle dragon, and was showing off some more aquatic magic. Did she end up dreaming the colored tides in her sleep, she wasn't telling.

The Bouncing Bunny Beach Club has two events a week, Sunday from 3 to 6PM SL time, and 7 to 9PM SL time.
