Club Scorn Sponsors Relay Weekend Lap

At the Relay Weekend track, sims are usually sponsored by someone, usually a team or a team's own sponsor. But theme laps can be sponsored too. This Relay Weekend, the club behind a first-year team, Club Scorn, sponsored the "Rainbow of Ribbons" hour at 1 AM SL time.
Team captain (and club manager) Aldaris (Bawnty Resident) announced it in Discord as it happened.

Our sponsored hour is now as it happens. Spy "Club Scorn" on the region gates until 2am

And there were various people in rainbow outfits, and sometimes rainbow avatars, going down the track.

On Sunday, Alaris announced, "Kiosks will be going into "Off season" mode soon, resetting everything. I've been up for 25 hours, enjoy the closing ceremony everyone. Thank you to all of Team Scorn that showed up with their 90s nikeys on today. ... I'm so glad we could, and that we all did it together!

"As for the campsite, people have until Wednesday to visit. After that it'll get wiped. So there's still a chance some inquisitive minds will find the link to visit us here, or at the club proper."

Club Scorn is in Elysium Tartaru, with various venues for different themed events. The sim is rated Adult.

Slight Tweaks At Cutlass

Club Cutlass has had many changes over time. In recent years though, not so many, the last notable ones in 2016. The other day, Rita announced she had made some small ones.

Hi Everyone, I did some minor remodeling at Club Cutlass. Hopefully to make it easier to find things and click on them, by putting them in an easier to reach spot. This way folks can go back to their usual dance spots.  I do listen and make adjustments.  :)

Besides taking the number of contest boards down from two to one, the most noteable change was one of the "wings" made to accomodate the occasional dragon, one of them brought down to be level with the dance floor. Needless to say, think twice before antagonizing them.

Five-Way Tie At The Happy Vixen

Thursday June 15 had the "Black and Purple" event at the Happy Vixen with DJ Snowy (Skylark Lefavre) playing. Among those where were club owner Nydia Tungsten, who bumped up the prize to 1250 Lindens. While usually staff can't enter contest, whenever the prize is bumped up to 1000L or over, it becomes a "free for all" in which they can.

The results were a surprise, a five-way tie

Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: DeafLegacy Resident, Kylee Gracemount, Shion Winkler, casio2000 Resident, FiveNightsAtFreddys Resident

These kinds of ties are rare, but they do happen.

A New Look For The Happy Vixen

Over the course of it's history of more than a decade, the Happy Vixen has seen a number of changes. The last overhall was in March 2019 when it was made in the general shape it is today, courtesy of builder Jasmine Dawn (Jasmine Knickers). A year later, it would get a movie theater. A few days ago, Jasmine would give the place another touch-up. The floor was changed from crystal to teakwood, and the surrounding wooden decks were petrified into rock.

Response has been mainly positive. While some miss the old look, the new has gotten some complements, "Now the dance floor looks like it was made for a beach club." "The lag is better than it was."

Most everyone is taking the new rock look in stride. And one or two have commented it's a reminder never to take things for "granite."

A Night of Six Winners At Cutlass

Saturday February 18 at Club Cutlass started out interesting enough. There had been a theme change to "Furries and Scalies," which suited the dragon crowd with DJ Geerkil just fine. There were the usual bad jokes and puns, along with Geerkil playing "Baby Shark" claiming it had been requested. Then eventually it was time to vote for the best in theme, with 1000L on both the male and female boards. And then the winners were announced.

[19:55] Kylee Gracemount: Good Luck All !
[19:55] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Voting for "FURRIES and SCALIES (M)" has ended.
[19:55] Now playing: Seamus Kennedy - Old McDonald had a Deformed Farm
[19:55] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Zorro Wuramunga won L$1000!
[19:55] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: Zorro Wuramunga
[19:55] Jaxs (mJaxs Resident): have no cables, but watch mostly on the enternet.
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Skylark Lefavre won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: myu Zepp won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Kylee Gracemount won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: LiskaDaLantros Resident won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Aubrytia Resident won L$200!
[19:56] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: Skylark Lefavre, myu Zepp, Kylee Gracemount, LiskaDaLantros Resident, Aubrytia Resident

The initial response was Zorro going "Thanks all" to his win and Kyle Gracemount saying, "Thank You for the Music, the Hosting, and the Venue." Then Snowy HunniBunni Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre), the club manager that night, noticed the number of winners, "Wow! Like Oh - Emm - Eff - Gee!  Lots of winners." She then thought about adding the names of the six contest winners on the bottom of the board, "I hope it fits." And thankfully they did, "Whew! It all fit!"

Nights with so many winners at Club Cutlass are rare, but they do happen. Two years ago in February 2021, there were two instances of seven winners (here) and (here).

Club Squeaks

By Bixyl Shuftan

There's a small but promising new club in the Sunweaver/Angel's community: Club Squeaks.

This new club came about in response to the closing of another. On Thursday July 28, Brandi Streussel announced that Clube Livewire (sometimes spelled L!vew!re) had shut down and the building taken down. The club had kept calling itself "The NEW Livewire" as it was less than a year old, having opened in Fall 2021 (probably late September), and the Cyberpunk look was done away with in Spring 2022 and a more regular look installed. In mid-July, owner Whiskey Ravenhurst (formerly Thorrin Resident) announced he was shutting down the venue as real-life demanded his full attention.

Brandi was one of the DJs at the closed club, and her response was to start a new one. It's in a small building in the middle of a globe way up in the Pacific Waters sim. The design is a somewhat simple one, with a small dance floor and DJ booth. The booth has a small mouse-shaped tip jar that squeaks when tiped and gives a cloud of cheese animation. There's a couple of rotating neon dance platforms in the air, the same kind Club Zero Gravity is noted for). There's also an overhead large hammock with cushions, in case a couple wants to hang around after the party and cuddle.

There were a few suggestions for names after Brandi announced on her Discord channel she would soon be creating her own club, such as "The Cheese Factory" and "The Mouse Trap." But Brandi named it after her DJ handle, DJ Squeaks, presumably for better recognition.

Currently Club Squeaks has events Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 11 AM SL time, with Brandi/DJ Squeaks as the sole DJ, for now. It is currently the only club in the Sunweaver/Angel area with morning hours.

Furry Fashion's 15th Anniversary

 *

Saturday April 7 was Furry Fashion's 15th anniversary. And the Furry Fashion Lounge had an eight hour party marathon, with thousands of Lindens given out. 2PM was "Ferals", with DJ Sheba.

Plenty of people showed their more animal side, such as this star-spangled gryphon..

The winners were Teddy Cloud, Chanticleer Evergarden, and Synthedelica.

Store and club owner Amethysia (Amethyst Crystal) was there, dancing with a friend.

There were snacks available for those interested.

At 4 PM, the theme changed to "Fantasy," with DJ Minty.

The winners were Sheba Metaluna, Phoenixrising97, and Pocket Joker.

6PM was Purple and Blue w DJ Saylor, and 8PM was CAYA with DJ Scratch.

Rare Night: Seven Winners At Cutlass

 *

Friday March 4 was the Pirate party at Club Cutlass. When the Sunweaver community was in it's early days, Club Cutlass started out as a pirate-themed club, hence the name. While it's taken many forms over the years, the name never changed.

And this night, the hearties partied, in various pirate outfits. This included a mouse buccaneer - "I be a pie rat.".

Finally came voting time, and we were to choose the best in theme. On the Men's board, there was a tie between two guys: Zorro Wuramunga and Bixyl Shuftan (myself). But on the women's board, there was a surprise! While there are occasional three-way ties, this time it was a five-way tie! Kylee Gracemount, Mattie Carlton (Mattie Foxpaws), Liska da'Lantros (LiskaDaLantros Resident), Snowy AngelBun Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre), and Ginger (Dusk Griswold). So it was a night of seven winners!

While amazing, the night wasn't the first time a club event had so many winners. In February 2021, there was another. Still, it was a night to remember. And the following night, we found Jenni couldn't squeeze all the names on the board.

Dusk Griswold's Retirement Party

 *

On Saturday December 4, the Sunweavers decided to hold a party to celebrated a real-life milestone of one of their longtime members. Dusk Griswold, also known by her display name Ginger, was retiring from her real=life job.

Dusk "Ginger" Griswold invites you to come to her retirement party from her real life job with the United States Postal Service. Party is Dec 4th from 3pm to 5pm at Club Cutlass onboard the Airship Cutlass VI . Come dressed casual, there is no contest. The music will be of the 60's and 70's mostly. DJ Snowy AngelBun will play tunes first hour with DJ Cynthia Farshore the second hour.

As the announcement stated, the party ran just before the main event on Saturday, from 3 to 5PM SL time, with no contest. The food table got some attention.

Among those stopping by was Sabine McGettin, the former captain of the old Passionate Redheads team for the Relay for Life.

Dusk, getting ready for the next event that night, "Going Plaid." She was retiring after over thirty years in the US Postal Service. Quite a long time.

Happy Retirement, Dusk.

The Happy Vixen's Ghost Pirate Island

It's October at the Happy Vixen Beach Club. And that means the venue's annual tradition of having a Halloween area. Jasmine Dawn (Jasmine Knickers) has been making them for the past several years. This year, she constructed a Ghost Pirate Island.

So how do you get there? Well, if you head to the Happy Vixen's usual entrance at Purrfection Estates (236, 219, 24) , you'll see a sign, "To enter me club, place your booty in me chest." Clicking on a chest with "teleport" over it, your avatar will be seen opening it.

And then you find yourself on the foggy top of a hill.

On the way down, you find a campsite, with a tent and bonfire. Marshmallows anyone?

So why is it called a ghost pirate island? Well, at the pier is a ghost pirate ship. Rumor has it this is the "Flying Dutchman" herself.

Ghost can't drink liquor well, not being able to handle the "boooooooos."

So where is the pirate treasure? Well, there's a cave.

And inside is the treasure, and what's left of the pirates whom couldn't leave it behind.

There were some supplies nearby, intended for different purposes.

The build was made by Jasmine Dawn (Jasmine Knickers), whom for the past several years has made the Happy Vixen's Halloween areas.

The build has been operating since Monday night, October 11. But Jasmine had a theme for Sunday October 17 for her set from 5 to 7PM: "Day of the Dead."

In case anyone is wondering about my event this Sunday evening from 5 to 7om SLT,   "'Day of the Dead'  or 'Día de los Muertos'  is a holiday holiday celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. It originated and is mostly observed in Mexico but also in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. Although associated with the Catholic celebrations of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, it has a much less solemn tone and is portrayed as a holiday of joyful celebration rather than mourning. Family and friends gathering to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have died. These celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.

"Traditions connected with the holiday include honoring the deceased using calaveras and aztec marigold flowers known as cempazúchitl, building home altars called ofrendas with the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these items as gifts for the deceased. The celebration is not solely focused on the dead, as it is also common to give gifts to friends such as candy sugar skulls, to share traditional pan de muerto with family and friends, and to write light-hearted and often irreverent verses in the form of mock epitaphs dedicated to living friends and acquaintances."

Yes I know I'm a little early in doing this event. But I felt that everyone that has lost someone needs be reminded that though that friend or family is gone, they will never be forgotten.

Jasmine had a special avatar made for the event. Others appeared in skeleton clothes, as skeletons, or other spooky looks.

Some others were dressed for the next event. The result was a crowd of a couple dozen on the little pier.

The ghost pirate island will be up at least until Halloween, Sunday October 31. There will be a special Halloween party then. After that, the build may be up for a few more nights. But eventually, it will go back to the mists from whence it came.

Happy Birthday Dusk Griswold

On Monday October 4, there was a birthday party for Sunweaver resident and member of RFL team Meli's Maniacs, Dusk Griswold. The party was held at Club Amaranth.

The theme for the party had been anti-bullying. But hearing about Dusk's birthday, some decorations and things were set up, such as references to Dusk's usual avatar in recent times, that of an anthro poodle.

Dusk wasn't the only poodle at the party. Violet Solano, the club's manager, joined Dusk's pink avatar with her black poodle.

Happy Birthday Dusk.
