Slight Tweaks At Cutlass

 

 

 Club Cutlass has had many changes over time. In recent years though, not so many, the last notable ones in 2016. The other day, Rita announced she had made some small ones.

 

Hi Everyone, I did some minor remodeling at Club Cutlass. Hopefully to make it easier to find things and click on them, by putting them in an easier to reach spot. This way folks can go back to their usual dance spots.  I do listen and make adjustments.  :)

 

Besides taking the number of contest boards down from two to one, the most noteable change was one of the "wings" made to accomodate the occasional dragon, one of them brought down to be level with the dance floor. Needless to say, think twice before antagonizing them.

 

Club Cutlass Goes To One Contest Board

 

 

 For it's history, Club Cutlass has had two contest boards, one for men and one for women. For years, there have been fewer people entering contests on the men's board. And lately, there's often just one or two. So recently, Rita Mariner decided it was time for a change.

Sunnies ... Due to lack of males joining the contests, I have rolled both boards into ONE! The board is now BLACK and both male and females will use it. Prize will be raised to 500L.

So now, there's just one board for men and women at Cutlass where the men's board used to be. In place of the women's board is a picture. Otherwise, the contests go on as usual.

A Night of Six Winners At Cutlass

 

 

Saturday February 18 at Club Cutlass started out interesting enough. There had been a theme change to "Furries and Scalies," which suited the dragon crowd with DJ Geerkil just fine. There were the usual bad jokes and puns, along with Geerkil playing "Baby Shark" claiming it had been requested. Then eventually it was time to vote for the best in theme, with 1000L on both the male and female boards. And then the winners were announced.

The initial response was Zorro going "Thanks all" to his win and Kyle Gracemount saying, "Thank You for the Music, the Hosting, and the Venue." Then Snowy HunniBunni Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre), the club manager that night, noticed the number of winners, "Wow! Like Oh - Emm - Eff - Gee!  Lots of winners." She then thought about adding the names of the six contest winners on the bottom of the board, "I hope it fits." And thankfully they did, "Whew! It all fit!"

Nights with so many winners at Club Cutlass are rare, but they do happen. Two years ago in February 2021, there were two instances of seven winners (here) and (here).

Rare Night: Seven Winners At Cutlass

Friday March 4 was the Pirate party at Club Cutlass. When the Sunweaver community was in it's early days, Club Cutlass started out as a pirate-themed club, hence the name. While it's taken many forms over the years, the name never changed.

And this night, the hearties partied, in various pirate outfits. This included a mouse buccaneer - "I be a pie rat.". 

Finally came voting time, and we were to choose the best in theme. On the Men's board, there was a tie between two guys: Zorro Wuramunga and Bixyl Shuftan (myself). But on the women's board, there was a surprise! While there are occasional three-way ties, this time it was a five-way tie! Kylee Gracemount, Mattie Carlton (Mattie Foxpaws), Liska da'Lantros (LiskaDaLantros Resident), Snowy AngelBun Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre), and Ginger (Dusk Griswold). So it was a night of seven winners!

While amazing, the night wasn't the first time a club event had so many winners. In February 2021, there was another. Still, it was a night to remember. And the following night, we found Jenni couldn't squeeze all the names on the board.

Saturday July 17 was the Beach Party at Club Cutlass. With DJ Cynthia playing some beach music, the dance floor ended up covered with sand.

Three from the RFL "Roos" team dropped by, one being a "Parrothead" Jimmy Buffet fan.

 "Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the water."

Rhane Slade, a little bunny, showed up for the first time in a while.

A good time was had by all.

The Night With Seven Winners At Cutlass

Contests at clubs occasionally have ties. For those clubs with two sets of entry boards for two winners, one for the guys and one for the girls, ties on both for one event are rare but they do happen. But an event that had seven winners, well, that would be one for the books. Such an event happened a few nights ago on Wednesday February 3 at Club Cutlass.

This particular night was a break from Cutlass tradition. Unless there's a holiday, Wednesday contests are usually "Alphabet Nights" in which the contest is to the best in something starting with the letter (or letters) of the night. But this time the theme was "Favorites." In which people were asked to show up in their favorite avatars, which in practice meant people usually showing up in their usual ones.

Time to fire up another party week. get on your favorite AV;s and outfits and come out to party as I play some of my favorite tunes. Doors open at 6 PM.

The event had the usual joking around and other conversation at Cutlass, mixed with a little talk about the upcoming Relay season. Eventually it was time to vote. And when the results were totaled ...

Seven winners, five for the women, two for the men. Only one other contest in memory got close to this, "There has been one other 5 way I recall, but it was a holiday party."

Jenni Greenfield, the Cutlass manager, usually puts the contest winners at the bottom of the event board. Someone commented of the five-way, "That must have stretched you out like a Thanksgiving turkey." But this time, Jenni simply entered "Lots." That got a couple snickers, "I was wondering how she would get it all to fit." Later on, Jenni would get all seven winners on by shortening the names.

No telling how many others took a picture of the board that night. But I did, and here's my documentation of a night at my community's main club that will be remembered for some time to come.

Fourth of July At Cutlass and The Happy Vixen

On Wednesday July 3, Club Cutlass had it's "4rth of July" party.

People were decked out in red, white, and blue.

Liska Fucsh won the contest for the women.

The next day on July 4, the club had it's "Red White and Blue" party

 People tend to frown on politicians wrapping themselves in a flag. But a lady doing so is much more welcome.

The contest was jointly won by Sidney Fisher and Rio.
