The Happy Vixen Turns Ten Years Old
By Bixyl Shuftan
In contrast to many clubs, created by ambitious personalities who think they have what it takes to make the next top club in all of Second Life, the Happy Vixen's start was more humble. In May 2010, it was decided to make Club Zero Gravity the main club of the Purrfection sim. Being a space club, it was high above the sim. About a year later, Nydia Tungsten, whom before ran the Angels Beach club in another sim before it was suddenly shut down when the region closed down, decided something for the surface was needed. In June 2011, she placed a small beachside shop, and a small beach club with a thatched roof made by Treminari Huet. Nydia didn't give it a name at first, but it soon became known as the Happy Vixen.
For months it would hold events an average of once a week, the larger "Raised Tail" beach club that was also in the sim having larger numbers. But then "Raised Tail" would shut down, never to reopen. Nydia then decided it was time to expand the Happy Vixen, builder Jasmine Dawn (Jasmine Knickers) using the design of the closed club as an inspiration, with thatched roofs and vines going down the sides. Nydia was also asked by friends of hers to make the beach next to it a nude beach. This was not for frisky behavior, but because their favorite "clothing optional" places were closing, and what was left were what were sometimes called "perv beaches," and the women wanted a place where they could enjoy full exposure without being pestered for sex. The new club was reopened in November 2011, and would start getting more attention.
At first, the club would hold only one two or three events a week in times and days not covered by the other Sunny clubs, such as on Monday. For several months at one time, it was closed to regular events. But time would change things. Cutlass would drop it's Sunday event, so the Happy Vixen filled in. Xanadu would also close and re open due to the owner's real-life, and at one point it was decided for the beach club to fill in for it until it reopened. And eventually It was decided Purfection couldn't support two clubs. Since the beach club fit the theme of the sim more, it stayed and Club Zero Gravity would close, and remain offline for a few years before reopening elsewhere. And so as it filled in when neighboring clubs closed or a talented DJ was interested in working there, the little beach club became the most active in the Sunweaver community.
Over time, the Happy Vixen would get several renovations. At one point it was taken down from Purrfection and another beach club set up in the Main Sunweaver area and called the "Happy Vixen," one with the dance area out in the open. It was best known for being the setting for a couple music videos. It would soon be moved back to Purrfection, but as a new club building that was made a little smaller, but the dance floor area also out in the open. It would get makeovers again in May and June 2016, getting a larger dance floor, a building area with a hot tub and a few games, and a small shopping "mall" area near the entrance. It would remain this way for almost three years. Then in March 2019, it got the makeover that gave it the look it has today, a larger dance floor with a side area with a movie theater and some games.
In March 2019, it would once again be modified and look much like it does today, a large open-air club with a big dance floor with a crystal center. One corner was for the dragon DJ whom played a couple events a week at the time. To the side was a hot tub with a few games placed above and nearby. Later in the year, it would be further modified to have a movie theater area with a huge selection of movies. The hot tub would be taken down, but more games would be added. There are some pictures of Nydia and her friends, and a calendar vendor. There's also a Sunbeamer kiosk there in the Relay season, and throughout the year a "Homes For Our Troops" kiosk for donations to the two charities.
Over time, there have been many, many events. The club aims for a variety of themes, seldom repeating the same one until two or three months have passed. Some of the more memorable themes have been Pony, Skunks, Sharknado, Pirates, and others. The club has seen game tournaments, Birthday parties, a number of Relay events, benefits to help neighbors in need, other charity events, memorial events, calendar auctions, taken part in club crawls, had a book publishing party, was the setting of some SL music videos, hosted a couple Luskwood tribute parties, and was the scene of some SL Newser anniversary parties. Every December, the club is the scene of the "Twisted Christmas" party. And every October in the past few years, Jasmine Dawn's made a fun Halloween build, followed by a big Halloween bash. And on a rare occasion, there may be a pie fight or some flooding.
If the club has a secret for it's longevity, it's flexibility. Nydia Tungsten runs the club along with manager Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre), with a little help from yours truly. Our friend Helios Auxifur also helps out. The club has been fortunate enough to have some fine talent over the years, such as Tantari Kim and Jasmine Dawn.
As for future plans, it's continuing to provide fun and music to our neighbors and friends, and some games and movies between parties. We may change the design of the place again soon, or maybe not. The point of a beach club is to relax, and so we'll continue to provide a place for some fun in the sun.
Currently, our schedule is Mondays 9-12PM, Tues 4-8PM, Thurs 8-10PM, Fri 4-6 and 8-10PM, and Sunday 5-9PM. Come on over and join in the fun.

DJ Naughty Nydia's Twisted Christmas Special
By Bixyl Shuftan
Thursday December 16 was the day the Happy Vixen had what's become a holiday tradition: Nydia Tungsten's "Twisted Christmas" event. As the clock ticked to 4PM, people began arriving.
Are you SICK of those sappy, sugary sweet Chistmas tunes they have been playing since late October, mid November? are you ready to poke a hole through your own eardrums JUST to get away from it? Well DJ Naughty Nydia has the Answer for YOU! She's got a lot of new songs and of course the popular ones from the past, all of these great tunes will be spun by DJ Naughty Nydia starting with $500L's on the board it all starts at 4pm SLT.
For seven years, "Naughty Nydia," as Nydia Tungsten is known while DJing, has done these events. Three boards around the place showed a slide-show of pictures, most too frisky to show in a family friendly paper.
People showed up in all kinds of outfits, some were Chtistmasy but a bit twisted.
And some were just nice and Christmasy.
There was plenty of dancing to Nydia's twisted Christmas music, which went from the mild, such as "Weird Al" and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer," to the wild such as Shockwave's, "Grandma Got Knocked Up By A Reindeer," to the "Oh Emm Gee" which I can't even mention here.
I can't show a close-up of what Nydia was wearing as while technically nothing "bad" was showing, it's probably still too much for workplace-safe reading.
The party went on, with "Frisky the Snowman" brought back for the occasion, dropping one lame pickup line after another, "Are you okay, 'cause it's a long fall from Heaven." "I put your picture up at the post office, 'cause you're wanted by me." "If a fat man puts you in a bag tonight, don't worry. I told Santa I wanted you for Christmas."
Near the end of the event, Nydia went ahead and let one of the girls nuke the perverted snowman.
The contest, the prize of which had been bumped up to 1000L, was won by Dusk Griswold.
It was a party to remember.

The Bouncing Bunny Club
The location isn't intended to be a full-time club, but is a place for people to just hang out, or for a DJ with access to the machine to start an impromptu event (provided it doesn't cut into an event at one of the active clubs).
If the building looks familiar, you may have seen it when it was briefly used as the "Happy Vixen" at one short point in it's history. It was also seen in two of Nydia's videos, "Wipe Out" and "Margaritaville." The Bouncing Bunny Club takes the place of "The Oasis," which was in the same location but taken down, and the "Drunken Parrot" which was on Sunweaver Bay but was taken down by it's manager last weekend.

The Happy Vixen Movie Theater
Over time, the Happy Vixen Beach club has had a number of attractions besides the main one, the DJ music events. There's been a hot tub. There have been a number of games to play such as parcheesi (or "cheesy" as it's usually called). And there's been competitions. But recently there's been something new added: a movie theater.
The theater was originally at club owner Nydia Tungsten's manor in Pacific Waters. But she moved it to the beach club and set it up with help from Jasmine Dawn (OraSine Resident). Talking to Jasmine, she told me, "Nydia had stated she
had to take down ALL her movies for updates, and was looking at making the view place smaller. I myself was looking for a attraction to help draw more people to come visit the Happy Vixen.
"Two birds with one stone. I suggested to Nydia that we clean up the game table area that rarely got used, and place out her movies here when they got updated and returned to her. Well they got returned. I was already working to make a proper backdrop."
Jasmine counted over 260 different movies, "I like the Heavy Metal movies, scifi type and suspense types. And yes, there is a reason why these movies here aren't properly organized. It gives people a chance to look through all that is offered. You might be hunting for Spiderman. but run across 'The Martian' and watch that instead. Or want a cartoon and pick a suspense type. With over 260 movies offered, a person will be here for a while trying to watch them all."

The Happy Vixen's 2019 Halloween "Carn-Evil"
By Bixyl Shuftan
It's time for Halloween, the season for spooky fun. Many clubs will have Halloween parties and a few decorations. But the Happy Vixen has been doing much more. For the past few years, the beach club of the Sunweaver/Angel community has hosted Halloween-themed builds courtesy of Jasmine Dawn. One year, she made a haunted forrest. Then she did a maze full of spooky frights with a prize at the end. Last year was a haunted manor in which not only could people party in the main room, but there was a quest to solve. This year, Jasmine offers more scary fun in the form of a haunted carnival, with games, rides, spooky prizes, scary clowns, and a big-top where the parties will be held until after Halloween.
Officially, it's named the THV Dark Vixen's Carn-Evil, the "Carn-Evil" part inspired by the arcade game from the late 1990s. The haunted carnival offers much to see. To get there, head to the Happy Vixen as usual. The place will be dark, with a tent in the middle of the dance floor. Click on the door, then click on the portal (don't worry about the creepy clown). You will then end up in a skybox high above the Purfection sim, with the haunted carnival before you.
There are a number of games one can play, such as the zombie shooting gallery. Just click and wear the "zombie splatter" gun (do NOT use the gun on the living, or the creepy clown will get you with our blessing). There's a Gory Slide, in which you climb up, and ride a mat down a slide wet with dripping blood. One easy game is the "Hook a Head," which Jasmine joked was full of griefers and people whom did not walk away from the carnival's dangers (if you "add" one of the things, you better have a taste for scrapple). There is the "Carousel of Pain," which can be called a merry-go-round from Hell as riding it means getting impaled somewhere or hung.
Then there's the "Freak Show," in which there are attractions such as the "Half Human Half Spider" and the two-headed elephant. To see the "Hideous Human Maggot," you'll need to sit on something just in front of the exhibit. Just outside are some cages outside, with a monster in a crate, another creepy clown, and a bloody ape with what's left of something or someone in it's hand. All the while you are looking around, there are various sound effects, moans, cackles, evil laughter, screams, and cries of help, "Help me! Helllllp meeeeeee...."
At the back of the haunted
carnival is the big top, a huge tent made for a number of people to
gather in. This is where the carnival events will be held in. The DJ
booth is in front of a large creepy clown face. There's also a slide
show of Hallowenish pictures, including a cartoon of a female mad
scientist whose creation seems destined to have a happier future than
Frankenstein's monster. The gray contest board is a little hard to see
in the dim light in it's part of the tent. But that's about the only
small problem in this place full of thrills and chills. On Thursday October 17, the haunted carnival was finally finished. And at 4PM SL time, it had it's first event, with Happy Vixen owner Nydia Tungsten spinning the tunes.
Welcome to "Carn-Evil"
We are proud to present this years Monstrous fun filled Halloween build for "The Happy Vixen"
I honored to be DJ'ing our first event here starting at 4pm SLT
some come and have a HOWLING good time!
so hop in the hearse and enjoy the ride!
As events had temporarily been moved to Sunweaver Oasis, the crowd was a bit small at first compared to most other times Nydia DJs. But over time more showed up. There was 2000 Lindens up for grabs in the contest, and it was split among the top three, with ShadowRenee Ivanova winning 1000L, Valkyrie McGill getting 600L, and Sylys Weezles wwling away with 400L. There were two other events that night, with DJ Geerkil and DJ Snowbuns.
The Carn-Evil will remain up for the rest of October, with Jasmine herself DJing on the first show on Halloween at 4PM. It may or may not remain up for another day or two. So be sure to come by for some chills and thrills.

The Happy Vixen's Grand Reopening
By Bixyl Shuftan
Tuesday May 31 was the grand reopening of the Happy Vixen beach club at the Purrfection Estates sim. For a few days, it had been closed while it had been worked on, and on Monday May 30, the work was done. The next evening it was time to celebrate with a grand-reopening, and a number of people dropped by to help celebrate.
DJ Tantari was the one who spun the tunes that night with her "New Age" set, appropriate for the opening night.
Jasmine Dawn was one of the two builders who did the remodeling. Here, she sports a mesh avatar that was inspired by Toriel, a character in the game "Undertale."
Miyuki Naidoo, the hostess of the Happy Vixen.
Nydia Tungsten, the white vixen owner of the club (the land is rented by Helios Auxifur), dances along with her partner Brandi Streusel, and friends Dusk Griswold, Perri Prinz, and a wolfess.
For two hours, everyone danced away to the tunes, having a good time.
At 8PM, Tantari ended her set, though many people would hang around, listening to the club's default KVXN stream.
The contest that night was won by Perri Prinz.
The Happy Vixen continues to hold regular events three days a week, Tuesdays from 6-8P, Thursdays from 6-8PM and 8-10PM, and a new Monday time slot by DJ Khyra.

Coordinated and Squirrelly
On Thursday at Noon SL time, Nydia Tungsten of the Happy Vixen decided to have an impromptu event. So a number showed up, including these two squirrelgirls and a chipmunk whom did a coordinated dance on the floor. Nydia, the stinker she can be at these times, was a "polecat dancer," whom can be seen in the background, along with Dusk Griswold.
