Anime Night at Panda Jenn's Pad

Saturday March 27 from 6 to 8 PM SL time was the anime event at Panda Jenn's Pad. People were to dress as their favorite anime character.

Jenn herself was there in dressed as "Lupin the Third," a master thief in anime series named for him in which he's almost always one step ahead of the police and whomever else is after him.

DJ Snowbuns, appearing in a Haru avatar (Beaststars) played the music.

There was lots of fun had by all.

DJ Naughty Nydia's Twisted Christmas Special

 By Bixyl Shuftan

Thursday December 16 was the day the Happy Vixen had what's become a holiday tradition: Nydia Tungsten's "Twisted Christmas" event. As the clock ticked to 4PM, people began arriving.

Are you SICK of those sappy, sugary sweet Chistmas tunes they have been playing since late October, mid November? are you ready to poke a hole through your own eardrums JUST to get away from it? Well DJ Naughty Nydia has the Answer for YOU! She's got a lot of new songs and of course the popular ones from the past, all of these great tunes will be spun by DJ Naughty Nydia starting with $500L's on the board it all starts at 4pm SLT.

For seven years, "Naughty Nydia," as Nydia Tungsten is known while DJing, has done these events.  Three boards around the place showed a slide-show of pictures, most too frisky to show in a family friendly paper.

People showed up in all kinds of outfits, some were Chtistmasy but a bit twisted.

And some were just nice and Christmasy.

There was plenty of dancing to Nydia's twisted Christmas music, which went from the mild, such as "Weird Al" and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer," to the wild such as Shockwave's, "Grandma Got Knocked Up By A Reindeer," to the "Oh Emm Gee" which I can't even mention here.

I can't show a close-up of what Nydia was wearing as while technically nothing "bad" was showing, it's probably still too much for workplace-safe reading.

The party went on, with "Frisky the Snowman" brought back for the occasion, dropping one lame pickup line after another, "Are you okay, 'cause it's a long fall from Heaven." "I put your picture up at the post office, 'cause you're wanted by me." "If a fat man puts you in a bag tonight, don't worry. I told Santa I wanted you for Christmas."

Near the end of the event, Nydia went ahead and let one of the girls nuke the perverted snowman.

The contest, the prize of which had been bumped up to 1000L, was won by Dusk Griswold.

It was a party to remember.

DJ Tantari at "Technoasis" at The Ark

On Saturday Sept 27 and Sunday Sept 28, "The Ark" had an event called "Technoasis," And Tantari played for four hours of it. She was certainly dressed for the occasion in her "Tron suit."

Tantari's been a friend of the Newser, including doing a music track in our honor. She also did a reader submitted miniseries, "How to DJ the DJ Tantari Way."

Journey Into The Expanse, And A New Mod Release At Furzona

By Cyfir (Cyfiremmerich)

This Friday April 24th starting at 2PM SLT Furzona will be hosting a 6 hour intergalactic event called Journey Into The Expanse. There will be two live DJs (Game Wylder and SirNinnylll) and three contests with 2000L up for grabs during each contest. The first contest starts at 2PM SLT and will be for Best Astronaut. So suit up in your best astronaut outfit! The second contest starts at 4PM SLT and will be for Best Space Alien. I believe that Sergals count! Finally, at 6PM SLT there will be a contest for Best Space Force (think Space Military).

When asked about what inspired the event, Game replied: “So, pretty much the entire team, and a lot of our staff, are just huge nerds. Our last event was a pirate themed one, so we though “Let’s do a space event!”

Furzona will also be hosting an event for the SPACE-ALOPE mod from Genetic Love the following Saturday 25th starting at 6 PM SLT. There will be a special edition limited style of the mod available for Furzona as well as one for Club MIDI a day prior.

In addition to these upcoming events, Furzona also does two monthly events as well as one weekly event. Every first Friday of the month is Cyberpunk Friday and every last Saturday is Critical Hit Friday. Every Tuesday night is Hecking Halo Tuesday. For their full events calendar, you should visit their website at https://www.furzona.club

Dressed to Relay

Valkyrie Ice is known for her provocative, skimpy dresses. But for the RFL fundraiser at the Happy Vixen on Saturday April 20, she was wearing something worthy of a royal ball.

April Linden At The Vix

The Luskwood Tribute Party on November 29 was one of the most memorable for the beach club. At one point, the deck had about thirty-five avatars on it. Among them was this little bunnygirl, April Linden.

It's been years since any Linden dropped by any of the Sunweaver/Angel Clubs. The last time I personally witnessed one drop in was in early 2010 at the original Angels Beach Club. So instead of being unseen figures, we had a Linden with us enjoying the music and dancing away. DJ Snowbuns ended up with one of April's bunny bears.

So when will we see April again? Time will tell

Somewhere Under The Rainbow

September 14 was "Rainbow Colors" at Club Cutlass. People dressed up in multicolor, and at one point, balls of light of many kinds of colors flooded the place.

No, the DJ never played the theme to "Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat."

It was quite the colorful event.

"Sharknado" At The Happy Vixen

By Bixyl Shuftan

On Thursday June 28, the Happy Vixen had its "Sharknado" party. It was a chance for everyone at the beach club to relax in aquatic avatars, or otherwise look like they were dealing with sharks.

The weather forcasts calls for a freak storm at the Happy Vixen. But this isn't just any storm, it's a "Sharknado!" But don't panic *too* much as the two-legged variety came to dance, not chow down on "long pig." Dress up in a shark avatar, a raincoat, some other sea gear, have a wearable pet fish, or have a weapon handy (but on your belt or back) in case any run-of-the-mill hungry shark shows up. So come on out of the water, and be careful about what you borrow money from. "We're gonna need a bigger club"

"The Vix" has had a few Sharknado events in the past. None topped what the Steelhead community pulled off as the last event for it's Steelhead Shanghai sim as the sim was closed soon after, officially due to the place being badly damaged by the storm and the community short on funds. But no one minded as we would just invite a few land sharks over, and crack jokes. DJ Snowbuns played a mix of tunes for the party, the ominous music from "Jaws" not being on the list. "In The Navy" by the Village People was, though.

At first, this event was turning much like the previous ones, with the "we're gonna need a bigger boat" jokes and wisecracks about what was for dinner. Then a couple of the land sharks began sporting lasers on their heads. But unlike those that Dr. Evil wanted, the landwalkers were just using them to tease the furry kitties by aiming them at the floor at low power and moving them around. Then someone was wrestling a shark. Not one of the landwakers on the dance floor, but your run-of-the-mill simple-minded chomper. It seems the toothy fish was attracted by a huge hot dog on the dance floor.

Then the wind began to pick up. It wasn't just a gentle breeze, but a strong gust. Then the people on the dance floor, furs and fins alike, saw it. It was a huge waterspout heading their way. The aquatic tornado was spinning around doors, signs, and other debris from whatever other sim it came from. At one point, it hopped onto the deck. While the boards creaked and strained, they didn't buckle or snap. This may have been in part due to the recent revarnishing the wood had. Those on the dance floor were startled, but didn't panic.

Somehow, the first twister was joined by a second one. They then turned on their sides, and it became very hard for those on the dance floor to see. But what could be seen was sharks of some kind with equipment of some kind inside both of them. Literal "sharknados." Were these two fish somehow causing the freak weather?

The wind howled, and the dancers on the deck took cover. But the twisters never bent the deck out of shape. After some minutes, both of the waterspouts faded away as quickly as they came. If there were any regular sharks left, they were scared off by a huge snow leopard that trotted up onto the deck.

Remarkably little damage was done to the deck. Less than when a can of paint was accidentally spilled by a manager reading a group notice the other day. The contest that evening was won by Ambri Grafta.

The Happy Vixen beach club is at
Purrfection Estates (236, 219, 24) and has events several times a week. Between events, people can soak in the hot tub, play games such as "Cards Against Humanity," or have fun in the water next to the club.

Club Gearz Grand Re-Opening

By Bixyl Shuftan

At 7PM on April 1st, Club Gearz, which had been the main club of the steampunk-themed Steelhead community, finally reopened it's doors. It was in a new home: Port Caledon.

Club Gearz had been active every week in it's old home, up until Friday September 25 when it held it's last event in the last days of the estate's active existence.

Finding it necessary to be in two places at once that night, I found it necessary to send in my trusty alt Rezzdammit, whom was officially in the Steelhead group. Due to the number of people there that night, there was a bit of lag at first. More than one person felt the club wasn't big enough.

But after some moments, eventually things cleared up, and the people came into view. Also coming into view were a few old momentos of the Steelhead community, such as it's seal and a few signs.

"Club Gearz is back.. Genie's back.. And we're waiting for what the hell crazy thing Fuzz is going to do to celebrate March 32nd."

Barron Klaus Wulfenbach, and Baronin Zantabraxus, were also there for the Grand Re-Opening, as was Willow Leafstorm, whom was able to save one of the Steelhead community's sims before the rest faded away.

Willow was sporting a jesterlike outfit, with a pair of comical noseglasses and a rubber chicken, "I'm the April Fool tonight." Of the chicken, a couple people joked about referees calling a "fowl" on her.

Fuzzball Ortega, seen here dancing with his partner Genie, was the DJ for the event. There were also a few Relay personalities around.

Fuzz played a number of songs, including "Mad Hatter," "Difficult For Weirdos," "Airship Pirates," "Rule the World," and Shakira's "Try Everything," of which Cynthia Farshore commented, "Wellll, seems the Sunweavers are not the only group that enjoys this one."

Trader Whiplash, whom recently took part in a "Bid Me Bald," sported a "chrome dome."

With Team Steelhead inactive this year for the Relay, there was a kiosk fot Team Aether Chrononauts Tiny Steps. At least 8200 Lindens, presumable more, was raised that night.

And what would a Relay event involving Fuzzball be without "The Hair?" And the people asked for it, "we were promised THE HAIR!" "Yes we were." "THE HAIR!!!" Genie wasn't so sure, "When we crash, I blame all of you." Then came a not quite human voice, "Yes, they were. Now get me out of your inventory." Then the familiar mass of head topper appeared, Fuzz saying, "I hope the Guv forgives me for crashing Port Caledon." One partier grinned, "It's overdue for a good crash." Another quipped, "The Guv understands the sign of a great party is a crash!" There were numerous cheers, "Yay!" "The Hair!" Of the height, Bain commented, "Cassie, you made the room ceiling just high enough, by inches." Madonna joked, "I imagine Cassie built the new Club Gearz with The Hair in mind." "I cannot help but notice this establishment is designed to fit THE HAIR perfectly."

First on the scene in June 2011, "The Hair" had been a fixture of numerous events involving the Steelheaders, not to mention more than a few jokes involving a certain 60s song.

A home for fleas, a nest for bees,

a nest for birds, there ain't no words,

for the beauty, the splendor, the wonder of my:

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair,

Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it,

my hair.

Lots of fun was held that night at the newly reopened club, the first of many in it's new home.

"I'm so happy that Gearz is back, and IN CALEDON!!!"

For those wanting to get to the club on Friday nights at 7PM SL time, head to Port Caledon (65/155/23
